Idaho Cycling - Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes - Westbound (1/8) - Mullan to Wallace

This is the first segment of a multi-segment 70-mile westbound ride of the entire length of the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes from Mullan, Idaho to Plummer, Idaho.

This segment of the ride is from the easternmost trailhead of the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes in Mullan, Idaho to the old mining town and self-proclaimed Center of the Universe, Wallace, Idaho.

Note that there were a lot of forest fires in the region on this day, hence the visible haze and smoke. It was also at the end of a full day of riding with a few smudges on the camera lens that I didn't notice at the time.

The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is one of the crown jewels of US Rail Trails and is on the Rail Trail Hall of Fame. The full trail covers 72 paved miles through scenic mountains and valleys in Idaho's Panhandle.
