Polmont to Dechmont, Central Scotland

Polmont to Dechmont

This ride starts in Polmont, a small commuter village to the East of my home town of Falkirk and continues largely on the level to the historic town of Linlithgow where we turn South to start a long slow climb to the tiny village of Dechmont. The initial part of the ride is on a fairly busy main road but when we reach Linlithgow we turn off onto smaller, narrower country roads with less traffic.  Whilst there are no really steep inclines you are pretty much climbing constantly for the last 12 kilometres. Along the ride, we pass the Korean War Memorial to the Scots soldiers that lost their lives in that war and Cairnpapple Hill, an ancient historic burial ground from 3,500BC.

Whilst I've cycled the roads to the South of Linlithgow many times now, I have yet to get the chance to do them in sunny weather - it always seems to be grey and misty when I go!  Enjoy.
