Forth Road Bridge crossing, Central Scotland

Forth Road Bridge crossing

I wouldn't normally publish such a short ride but I was asked recently for a video covering the crossing of the River Forth just outside Edinburgh by the Forth Road Bridge (FRB). You should know that, although it was only opened in 1964 it's already closed to traffic due to steel defects.  It now only carries public transport, pedestrians, and cyclists.  Cyclists can cross both ways on either the West or the East walkways.  On this day only the East walkway was open, and the ride goes from South to North. Speed is limited to 15mph and on windy days (as this was!) it can be difficult to keep a straight line

As you cross, on the right-hand side is the rail bridge - officially called the Forth Bridge (opened in 1890) and on the left is the new Queensferry Crossing - opened in 2017 to replace the FRB.
