Cowie to Airth, Central Scotland

Cowie to Airth

I've done parts of this route before but I decided to film it again because a) there have been some new cycle paths built or are being built and b) because the weather was much better this time with it being a gorgeous sunny day.  I've also made two versions of this.  This is the longer version but I've had comments in the past that the latter part of the ride is "boring" - which I kinda get as it's long flat straights. However, I included it again here as the road had been newly resurfaced and there was a tailwind from the west that allowed speeds of up to 50 km/h which I wouldn't, in normal circumstances, achieve.

The ride starts in the countryside just outside Cowie before passing through the small mining village itself. It then continues following National Cycle Route 76 through the farm tracks to the south and west of another old mining village - Fallin. Only farm vehicles and cycles are allowed on these roads so it's rare that I would ever meet anyone else. We then pass through Fallin using the cycle tracks around the nature reserve that has been built on the former pit workings before joining the main road along the side of the River Forth finishing on the eastern side of the village of Airth.  From Fallin to Airth is just a series of long flat straights so if you'd rather miss this I'd suggest doing the other video here.
