St.Dionysen πŸšΆπŸ½β€β™‚οΈ Roman Bridge

Start with an easy, gentle uphill followed by a downhill. Finish with a short final hard uphill. You will see:

  • 20sec of contemplation about "Panta rhei" (Heraclitus). Everything flows and our lives are but a small wave...
  • Weir and aqueduct (rebuilt in 2019-2021), originally built up around 1903 and - according to the memorial plate ("Erbaut mit russischen Kriegsgefangenen 1915-1918.") - built further between 1915-1918 by the Russian prisoners of WWI.
  • Old Roman bridge, probably built by Roman legionaries, or maybe local population and slaves around 150 a.C. First written mention in 1454.
  • Hydroelectric power station and a part of another aqueduct, built in a year and a half by the imprisoned persons during WWII. More details and a long walk along that aqueduct in another video: "Underwater we go!" (more history there).
  • Three gravestones in memory of imprisoned persons who lost their lives at the aqueduct site during WWII.
