Almere is a water city with the Weerwater as the most popular recreational lake. The Weerwater is located on the edge of Almere Stad and was created by sand excavations for Almere Haven. There are several recreational options available on the Weerwater, such as the Stedenwijk beach, Atlantis beach, Fantasy beach and Lumiére beach located on the Weerwater.
