Stirling Time Trials, UCI Cycling World Championships, Glasgow 2023
I'm incredibly lucky that the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships are based in Glasgow and even luckier that the Time Trial routes are just 20 kilometres from where I stay. Much of the route I have already cycled and filmed and is available here on Kinomap, but I decided to film these again as close to the time trial as possible. The Scottish government is investing over £300m in repairing the roads that the UCI competitors will be using in the championships and some of these repairs were not yet completed a the time of filming.
Because of that, this video is a mix of the Men's Individual Time Trial (minus around 8km) and the Women's Individual Time Trial (with around 10km extra) The women's and men's junior (U23 time trials use the same route but over shorter distances. The video starts beneath the iconic Stirling Castle and finishes over the cobblestones leading up to the ramparts of the castle which featured in the famous Chris Boardman victory on the Tour of Britain in 1998.
If you wish to follow the exact route of the women's and men's Individual time trails you can by using these videos;
