Happy and healthy New year 2022! Let us be good to each other.
It is a sunny Summer day. Start at the Silver lake (ger. Silbersee; altitude: ~500m). A few uphill steps and you are on the embankment of a long aqueduct which supplies the river water to a power plant. Let's see how the weir looks like and then go for a long downstream walk... Approaching the end, you should not be afraid of the darkness!
Historical background: In the second World war, the imprisoned persons from the two nearby labor camps were forced to build this waterworks system. It was built in just a year and a half. Under National-socialists, amid Alps - you can imagine what this means... More here (in German): 100 Jahre Energie Steiermark, Arbeitserziehungslager Niklasdorf, Arbeitserziehungslager Picheldorf.
In my other video, "Roman Bridge", you will pass by that hydroelectric plant. That video is a kind of a small tribute to the victims of injustice, forced labor and wars of all epochs.
You can reach the Silver lake from the town by bike in another video. (If you do not have a home bike you can also walk it in a discovery mode.)
