Let's go on an easy forest hike, some 700m above the river Drina, with just a few breathtaking vistas over a small part of the lake Perućac (altitude: ~290m; a 58km long artificial reservoir on the river), a part of its canyon, as well as the 90m high dam Bajina bašta, built in the early 1960ties.
NP Tara, named after the mountain Tara, is situated in the large bend of the river Drina, the vicinity of which was in the 1990ties a troubled border region between Bosnia and Herzegovina on the northwestern (left) bank and Serbia on the eastern (right) bank (both being the previous constituents of the country of my young days - the SFRJ).
