Shotts to Caldercruix

I mentioned in this video that I have been seeking out hills and inclines of late in a bid to improve my fitness.  Of course, after you've claimed up these hills you've got to come down!  Once you get up to the tiny Lanarkshire village of Forth the only way out whichever route you take is down.  I headed North back towards my home town of Falkirk.  I've covered most of the routes from Caldercruix back to Falkirk before so this video concentrates on the roads between Forth and Caldercruix. 

There are three videos:

• Forth to Caldercuix (the complete route): 23kms
• Forth to Shotts (the first 'half'): 9kms
• Shotts to Caldercruix (the second 'half' - this video) : 15kms

In my view, the best part is the second half beyond the small village of Shotts beside the main Glasgow to Edinburgh motorway.  It takes you over the highest point in Central Scotland with some fantastic views out to the West and North taking in Glasgow and the hills beyond.
