🦁👑 Lion Trail 1a/100: Kutna Hora –⁠⁠ Dolany | Central Bohemia

Project intro, roadmap & contest rules below. Part 1a/100: We start our journey in the UNESCO-listed royal town of Kutna Hora, where silver used to be mined in the middle ages and that enjoyed more fame and importance than Prague at the peak of its days. The first few metres lead along the Jesuit College and provide views to the St James Church, with the St. Barbara Cathedral behind our backs. Admiring it will have to wait until we come back to this place with just a couple of hundred meters left to complete the entire trail. We’ll then weave through the historical centre past the gothic Stone Fountain and the Stone House, both from 15th century, and after passing by the Ursuline convent we start to find our way ouf of the town towards small vineyards and orchards surrounding it.

The Lion Trail  is an epic, nearly 2000 km long cycling itinerary in mixed terrain packed with diverse natural, historical & cultural landmarks and sights in the Czech Republic. It is divided into 100 sections of various difficulty levels; joined together they form the Bohemian lion—the state emblem—on a map. Majority of the trail weaves through Central Bohemia, with Prague in the role of the lion's heart, but it also visits East, North, West and South Bohemia as well.

Originally a part of a campaign of ŠKODA Auto launched in 2018 to celebrate 100 years since the former Czechoslovakia has been established, now getting an endless virtual life on Kinomap.
