Fascinating Mountainbike-Orienteering Race in Gribskov 🇩🇰: Try a challenging new experience!

Be witness of a competition in a fascinating sport, Mountainbike-Orienteering (Ultralong race MTBO-Camp Denmark 2022). The competitors receive a map one minute prior to the start. Starting point is a indicated by a triangle. The riders have to follow a given route with controls (circles on the map). Controls are registered by an electronic badge. The chosen route between the controls is up to riders: go on the good ridable path with a detour or ride the shorter way on more difficult trails? Climb up the hill on a shorter distance or accept a long distance, avoid the climb and surround the steep hill? With a good route choice you can win seconds or either loose some time with a bad choice. And that's the theory: not only you have to decide for a good route choice, no, you have to read the map in high speed and find the right path to take in reality! Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy? Well, give it a try... To avoid that the riders just follow eatch other, they normally start alone at intervals of several minutes. This Ultralong competition was started as a Massstart. Hence, the course is built up on several loops: each rider has to absolve the same loops in total but in a different order. So no rider knows in which order the opponents have to absolve the race and following each other is not possible. The map with the recorded route can be seen as an inlay in the right upper corner: Try to choice your route in advance and see where I went (to be honnest, not every route choice is perfect). If you think, your route would have been better, comment it and I would discuss, why I have chosen my route. Or even confirm your choice as the better one. Have fun!
