Featured on Strava Local Rides: Ride Mt Hamilton. See here for more Famous Climbs. The climb up Mt Hamilton is not the steepest but it is the highest summit in the San Francisco Bay area. It makes for a long gradual climb, very popular in the area. The newly paved bottom part makes it even more special with many trees blooming! A must do! The Lick Observatory at the summit is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of California and is open to visitors.
