Arizona Desert Cycling - Tombstone to Sierra Vista (1/2) - Near the Haunted Cabin (Brunckow Road)

This ride is the first of two segments on Arizona backroads from the famous, iconic old-west town of Tombstone to Sierra Vista.

This segment ends just past Brunckow Road, which is named for the nearby site of Brunkow's Cabin - purportedly the bloodiest cabin in Arizona history.

Between 1860 and 1890, at least twenty-one people were killed there, many of whom are buried on site. A few unmarked graves have been identified.

In 1881, Prescott's Arizona Democrat attested to the site's haunted reputation: "The graves lie thick around the old adobe house.... Prospectors and miners avoid the spot as they would the plague, and many of them will tell you that the unquiet spirits of the departed are wont to revisit.... and wander about the scene."

Note: there was a relentless headwind on this ride, which I understand is typical of the approach to Tombstone, so if you want to more accurately model the effort required, adjust the Kinomap app difficulty level to 125% or 150%!
