The Gries Glacier (Griesgletscher) is situated in the eastern Valais Alps and stretches from the top of the Blinnenhorn (3374 m) to almost into the Lake Gries (Griessee). The lake can be reached from the road to the Passo della Novena. In 2016, a wind farm was commissioned above the lake. The nearby Gries Pass (2458 m) is a historical crossing point between Switzerland and Italy. The lake supplied by the glacier is one of the highest reservoirs in Switzerland.
