Lock 16 and back via Cumbernauld
This is a circular route from Lock 16 on the Forth and Clyde canal at Camelon near my home. The first half is an easy and flat 17kms heading West along the canal towpaths to Dullator where we leave the canal and head up over the hills to Cumbernauld. The ride follows some main A class roads for a while before getting back into the countryside with a mix of flat and slight climbs as we head East back to Falkirk. Finally, the ride follows some gravel paths to take you down to the Falkirk Wheel which happened to be lifting a barge from the lower Firth and Clyde canal basin up to the Union canal as I passed. The ride then finishes back where we started at Lock 16 again.
