Descent from Grandeur Peak with great views of Millcreek Canyon in Salt Lake City Utah. This route is part of the Run Up For Air race every early February in which you see how many laps you can do in 6, 12 or 24 hours. The total climb is about a 5K with 1000m of gain. This run is about 4K and starts at the runnable portion after the initial steep descent. Many expert runners use this race as a tune up for the Barkley Marathons. This race is held in winter because the Salt Lake valley tends to trap pollution in the cold air and runners hit the high peaks adjacent to the city to climb above the bad air.
