A ride from Chęciny to the Szewce Quarry
This place is one of eleven so-called "ore mountains" located in the vicinity of Chęciny. Between the fourteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, lead and copper ore found in vein-slit deposits were searched and mined here. In the Szewce quarry, a very interesting color, one-of-a-kind sand-pink Devonian limestone was exploited, mainly used for cladding and flooring. Traces of the mining techniques used can still be seen in the walls of the excavation.
